In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
(1) They're asking you, O Prophet, about the spoils taken in battles. Tell them, "God and His Messenger determine how they're divided." So, be aware of God, sort out your matters, and follow God and His Messenger if you truly believe.
(2) Believers are those who feel a sense of awe when God is mentioned, and their faith grows stronger when they hear His revelations being recited. They rely on their Lord for guidance.
(3) Those who pray and spend from what We have given them.
(4) Those are the true believers. They will be rewarded with high status, forgiveness, and generous blessings from their Lord.
(5) Similarly, when God brought you, O Prophet, out of your home for a good cause, some believers were totally against it.
(6) They argued with you about what's true even though it was already explained, like they were heading towards death with their eyes wide open.
(7) And remember when God promised to help you win against one of two groups, but you wanted to go after the unarmed group? But God planned to show the truth through His Words and take down the non-believers.
(8) To ensure what's right stands strong and eliminates falsehood, even if it upsets the bad guys.
(9) When you asked for help from your Lord, He assured you, "I will strengthen you with a thousand angels, one after the other."
(10) God has made this a sign of victory and comfort for your hearts. Victory comes only from God. Indeed, God is All-Powerful and Wise.
(11) Think about when He made you feel calm and peaceful by making you sleepy. He sent rain from the sky to purify you, get rid of any evil thoughts from Satan, make your heart strong, and make your footsteps firm.
(12) Remember when your Lord told the angels, "I'm with you. Help the believers stay strong. I'll make the non-believers scared. Fight against them, strike their necks and fingertips."
(13) This is because they went against God and His Messenger. And anyone who goes against God and His Messenger should know that God is very severe in punishment.
(14) "That's the punishment, so taste it." And for the non-believers, there is the punishment of the Fire.
(15) O you who believe! When you face the non-believers in battle, never turn your back on them.
(16) Anyone who tries to escape on that day, unless they're just stepping back to plan or joining another group, will have to deal with God's anger, and his home is Hell. It is a terrible outcome!
(17) It was not you who killed them, but it was God Who did that. When you threw sand at the non-believers, it wasn't you throwing, but it was God Who did that. He was showing kindness to the believers by putting them to the test. God is All-Hearing and All-Knowing.
(18) That is how it goes. God fails the evil plans of the disbelievers.
(19) If you, non-believers, are looking for victory, it has come against you. If you stop being hostile, it's better for you. But if you come at Us again, We'll come back at you, and even if you have a big army, it won't save you. God is on the side of the believers.
(20) O you who believe! Obey God and His Messenger. Don't turn away from him while you listen to the call.
(21) Don't be like those who pretend to listen but don't hear or understand.
(22) Indeed, the worst of all beings in God's sight are those who act like they can't hear or speak and do not bother to understand.
(23) God would have made them understand if there were any good in those people. But if He did, they would resist and go against Him.
(24) O you who believe! When God and His Messenger call you to what gives you life, respond and remember that God stands between a person and his heart. And that eventually, you'll all be gathered to Him.
(25) Be aware that tough times can affect everyone, not just the wrongdoers, and God is severe regarding punishment.
(26) Think about a time when you were outnumbered and oppressed in the land. You were always worried about being attacked by your enemies. But then, God sheltered you, helped you win battles, and gave you good things to be grateful for.
(27) O you who believe! Do not betray God and the Messenger; never knowingly break your promises.
(28) Remember that your wealth and your children are a test from God, and He has an excellent reward for you.
(29) O you who believe! If you fear God, He'll give you a clear sense of right and wrong, wipe away your mistakes, and forgive you. God has incredible kindness.
(30) And remember, O Prophet, when those who didn't believe tried to hurt you by locking you up, killing you, or kicking you out. They made their plans, but God also had a plan, and His plans were always the best.
(31) And when Our revelations are recited to them, they challenge you and say, "We've heard this stuff before. If we wanted, we could say the same. It's just old stories."
(32) They even dared God, saying, "If this is indeed Your truth, then send a storm of stones from the sky against us, or give us a painful punishment."
(33) But God won't punish them while you're around, O Prophet, and He won't punish them if they ask for forgiveness.
(34) And why shouldn't God punish them when they're blocking people from the Holy Mosque, and they're not the right kind of protectors? Its true guardians are the good-hearted, but most don't know.
(35) Their prayers by the Sacred House were nothing but whistle and clap. So, taste the punishment for your disbelief.
(36) The non-believers spend their money to lead people away from God's Path. They spend it, but ultimately, they'll regret it and lose. The non-believers will end up in Hell.
(37) God does this to separate bad people from good ones. He piles up the bad ones in Hell. Those are the real losers.
(38) Tell the non-believers that their past mistakes will be forgiven if they stop. But if they keep being hostile, they'll end up like those disbelieving before them.
(39) Fight against them until there's no more idolatry and persecution, and the devotion is only to God alone. If they stop their idolatry, God sees what they do.
(40) If they turn away from the faith, remember that God is your Protector, the Best One, and the Best Helper.
(41) Remember that when you gain any spoils of war, a portion of it, like one-fifth, is meant for God, the Messenger, your close relatives, orphans, those in need, and the homeless. This is only if you genuinely believe in God and what was revealed to His servant on the Day of Distinction, the day two armies clashed. Remember, God is All-Powerful.
(42) Remember when you were on one side of a valley, and your enemies were on the other side, while a trade caravan passed below you. It wouldn't have worked out if you had tried to schedule a meeting with them. However, it was God who arranged this situation. This way, those who were meant to die and those who were meant to survive would do so after the truth became clear. God hears everything and knows it all.
(43) Remember when God showed you the enemy in your dream as few. Had He shown them as many, you might have become fearful and argued whether to fight. But God saved you from that. Indeed, He knows best what's in the hearts.
(44) Think back to when you saw the enemy as a small force when you met on the battlefield. And they, too, saw your army as small. This was all part of God's plan and His way of fulfilling a predetermined matter. In the end, everything goes back to God.
(45) O you who believe! When you face an opposing army, stand firm and remember God often. It's the key to success.
(46) Follow God's guidance and the Messenger's instructions. Don't argue among yourselves; it will only weaken you. Be patient because God supports those who endure patiently.
(47) Don't be like those who left their homes with arrogance, trying to impress others and preventing them from following God's Way. God is Well Aware of what they do.
(48) Remember when Satan tried to make their evil actions seem attractive and said, "No one can beat you today. I'm totally on your side." But when things got tough, he ditched them, saying, "I want nothing to do with you. I can see things you can't, and I'm terrified of God because God is tough regarding punishment."
(49) Remember when the hypocrites and those who had sickness in their hearts said, "These believers are misled by their faith." However, anyone who relies on God will find that God is All-Powerful and All-Wise.
(50) If only you could see when the angels take the souls of non-believers at the moment of their passing, beating their faces and backs, saying, “Taste the burning of the Fire!
(51) That's because of the wrong things you did with your own hands, and God doesn't mistreat people.”
(52) Think of it like what happened to the people of Pharaoh and those before them. They ignored the signs from God, and God punished them for their wrongdoings. God is indeed Powerful and strict when it comes to punishments.
(53) This happens because God won't stop blessing a group of people unless they stop believing. Indeed, God hears everything and knows everything.
(54) Just like what happened to the people of Pharaoh and those before them. They rejected the signs from their Lord, so We destroyed them due to their sins and drowned Pharaoh's people. All of them were doing wrong.
(55) Indeed, the worst kind of people in God's sight are the ones who don't believe; they won't change their minds.
(56) Those whom you made treaties with, but they keep breaking their treaties every time, not fearing what might happen.
(57) If you ever face them in a fight, teach them a lesson so those who might follow them will think twice.
(58) And if you see signs from people that might betray you first, then let go of your treaty, just as they did. God doesn't like people who break their word.
(59) Don't let those who don't believe think they can beat Us. They won't get away with it.
(60) Get ready with whatever strength and resources you have—like soldiers and weapons—to stand against those who oppose God, whether they're known enemies or ones you do not know, but God knows. Anything you invest for the sake of God will come back to you in full, and you won't be mistreated.
(61) If they want peace, go for it and trust in God. Indeed, He's listening and knows everything.
(62) If they try to trick you, remember that God is enough for you. He's the One Who's been helping you along with the believers.
(63) God brought the hearts of the believers together. Even if you used all the money in the world, you couldn't make their hearts unite. But God made it happen. Indeed, He's Powerful and Very Wise.
(64) O Prophet! God is all you need, and the believers who follow you will find God enough for them, too.
(65) O Prophet! Encourage the believers to fight. Even if just twenty of you are patient, you can overcome two hundred. And if there are a hundred of you, you can triumph over a thousand disbelievers. That is because they do not understand.
(66) God has made things easier for you because He understands that some of you might feel weak. So, if there are a hundred patient ones among you, they'll overcome two hundred, and if there are a thousand, they'll overcome two thousand with God's help. God is with those who stay patient and strong.
(67) Prophets can't take prisoners of war until they control a place. You might want the stuff in this world, but God's got something better for you in the next life. He's All-Powerful and All-Wise.
(68) If it weren't for a decision from God beforehand, you would have faced a big punishment for whatever ransom you have taken.
(69) So, enjoy what you've earned in battle. It's allowed, and it's a good thing. Just remember to be mindful of God. He's All-Forgiving, Most Kind.
(70) O Prophet! Tell the prisoners in your hands that if there's any goodness in their hearts, God will give you better than what was taken from you, and He'll forgive you. God is All-Forgiving, Most Kind.
(71) But if someone tries to deceive you, know that they've been attempting to deceive God before. However, God has given you the upper hand over them. God is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
(72) Those who believed, left their homes, worked hard with their money, even risked their lives for God's cause, and helped each other out are like protectors for one another. But for those who believe but haven't left their homes, you don't have to help them unless they also go. But if they ask for your support because of their faith and facing difficulties, you must help them, except if you have a treaty with the people mistreating them.
(73) Now, for those who don't believe, they stick together too. If you believers don't stick together, there's going to be great oppression and corruption on earth.
(74) The ones who believed, left their homes, fought for their beliefs, and helped others are genuine believers. They will receive forgiveness and good things in life.
(75) And those who believed later left their homes to join you and joined the fight with you are still part of your group. But now, only family members can inherit from each other, as directed by God. God knows everything for sure.
