In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
(1) When the hypocrites come to you, O Prophet, saying, "We testify that you're the Messenger of God, and God knows that you're His Messenger, and God testifies that those hypocrites are lying.
(2) They swear to protect themselves and to trick people away from God's Way. It's awful what they're doing.
(3) That's because they believed and then stopped believing, so now their hearts are sealed, and they can't get it.
(4) When you see them, they look good, and when they talk, they sound brilliant. But they're like useless pieces of wood against a wall. They think everyone is talking about them. They're the enemy, so watch out for them. May God punish them. How can people get lost like this?
(5) And when they're told, "Come on, let the Messenger of God pray for your forgiveness," they turn their heads and act all proud.
(6) Whether you ask God to forgive them or not, it won't work. God won't guide those who rebel.
(7) They say, "Don't give money to the people who came with God's Messenger unless they leave." But God owns everything in the heavens and the earth, and those hypocrites just don't get it.
(8) They say, "If we return to Medina, the people of honor will kick out the losers." But honor belongs to God, His Messenger, and true believers; those hypocrites don't know that.
(9) O you who believe! Don't let your money or kids distract you from thinking about God. If you do, you'll be the ones who lose out.
(10) Give some of what you have to help others before you run out of time and death comes to you, then you'll say, “My Lord, only if you had given me more time to be generous and do good.”
(11) But God won't give you more time if your time is up. He knows everything you do.
